Portland International Raceway, Pro Pits, June 1991. The comic strip nose has been painted over. It looks like the car is turning here; that is probably an illusion, as the previous owner had welded the rear end, so the car liked to go straight ahead no matter what the guy (or gal) behind the wheel intended.
A regional car club held an autocross at Eastport Plaza in August, 1991, and part of the weekend was a car show in the enclosed plaza. My wife, Sheila, pretends to be up to something in the car, and Dean Loros, who mechanic'd for me laughs at the thought of whatever it is she is pretending. Dean bowed to the pressure of those who claimed I should never have painted over the comics on the nose, so he presented me with a surprise at this show -- a new aluminum nose. It lasted about two weeks. |
