We have little information on my grandfather, Wright
Ben Krotzer, husband of Amanda "Emma" Brothers. Born Feb. 5, 1863, place
unknown, died May 23, 1930, Roseburg, Oregon. Apparently lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota
area, then moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho where he worked as a tugboat operator on Coeur
d'Alene Lake for a lumber mill. It appears the family later moved to Harrison, Idaho. One
story is that Emma Brothers Krotzer died there, probably about 1902-1906. Antoher story
states she was still alive in 1934 in Orofino, Idaho. Whichever is correct, W.B. was left
with four young children he apparently was unable to care for as he wished. He placed two
of them, Roland and Leslie, at the Spokane (Washington) Childrens Home. He placed the
other two, Lois and Paul, for adoption. Lois was adopted by M.J. and Amanda Camp from
Moscow, Idaho. Paul was adopted by a Gould family from Texas.
