Bertha A. Ziebarth Brothers was the mother
of my grandmother, Amanda "Emma" Brothers.
The records we have indicate she was born in Posen, Germany, in 1845, and died in Delano,
Minnesota on 17 June, 1881. She married James Edward Brothers in Wright county, Minnesota
in 1863. They had six children. The obituary in the 23 June, 1881 edition of the Delano
Eagle states: "Died at her home Friday night. Bertha, wife of J.E. Brothers of
Delano. Deceased was in her 34th year, and had been an invalid for some time. She leaves
six children, the youngest being but six months old. The funeral services were conducted
from the German Lutheran Church on Sunday afternoon. Deceased was the sister of William
Ziebarth of this town. Photo is not dated.
